On Wednesday, April 1, the SDMUG welcomes Crywolf‘s Mac instructor/trainer and all around tech guru Greg Homyak as our presenter. The topic is “Tips, Tricks & Trip Hazards“, a grab-bag of talking about problems in setting up and using Apple applications, how to use them faster and better, and how to avoid common mistakes that make computing “not so much fun”.
Greg will cover a wide variety of topics and issues, including those from the audience, including how to set up email accounts (POP3 versus IMAP and when to use which, what exactly is a “port”, how to sync with your iOS device), using “Locations” in networking, how to properly secure your home or business network, what to do if you lose your password, how to maximize your Mac’s and data’s security (FileVault 2, firmware password, Find My Mac, iCloud Drive, TimeMachine) and a lot more.
If you’ve ever taken one of Greg’s courses, you already know that he’s great at making Geek-talk understandable to the mere mortal. Rest assured that this meeting is geared to the average Mac user. This is a must-attend presentation that can pay off handsomely down the road.
Don’t forget the “Meeting after the Meeting” at California Pizza Kitchen on Nobel Drive. This is a great time to get to know fellow Mac enthusiasts and grab a late snack or dinner.
